Asaf Ezra and Tal Saiag founded Granulate in Tel Aviv in 2018 to tackle one of the cloud era's most pressing cost problems: the waste of compute resources. Their AI-powered software agent could be installed on any workload in minutes and, without requiring a single line of code change, would learn an application's behaviour and continuously optimise its resource usage, cutting cloud costs by up to 60 per cent.
Granulate's relationship with Intel began in 2019, when the company was part of the first graduating class of Intel Ignite, the chipmaker's start-up accelerator. The two companies went on to collaborate closely, optimising workload performance for customers running on Intel processors. We participated in Granulate's $30 million Series B in 2021, when the company was just two years old. Less than a year later, in March 2022, Intel acquired Granulate for approximately $650 million.
