I've always wanted to understand how to build the future. Probably because I grew up in Dubai, watching the Burj Khalifa get built outside my bedroom window. It made me want to understand the forces that decide what gets built, where, and why. That drew me to Cambridge to study economics, and later to less conventional places, like the months I spent in Liberia trying to get an iron ore mine running.
It's also what eventually pulled me into venture. I didn't come out of the womb wanting to be a VC, but somewhere along the way I became convinced that we're in the middle of the most important transition in human history since the agricultural revolution, and that the future will look nothing like the present. At Dawn, I'm lucky enough to have a front-row seat to that future and to work with the exceptional founders building it. The same instinct that took me to Cambridge and Liberia now shows up as an obsession with business models and the messy details of how great companies are built.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me playing poker, reading a book about 19th or 20th Century history, or planning my next trip.
