Gamila leads Talent Acquisition and Intelligence at Dawn. She runs the firm's internal hiring and founding-team diligence on new investments, and partners with portfolio companies as they build the teams that will define their next chapter. She joined Dawn in 2022 from Revolut.
Living across three culturally distinct places (Egypt, Latvia, and England) taught me a particular kind of curiosity. I learned quickly that the most interesting thing about a new place is almost always the people in it, and that their stories rarely read the way you'd predict.
That curiosity is what led me into talent. I find the journey behind a CV far more interesting than the CV itself: how someone ended up where they are, what they optimised for along the way, and what they're quietly trying to build next. At Dawn, I get to spend my days doing exactly that across three different remits: hiring into the firm, helping our portfolio companies build the teams that will define their next chapter, and partnering with the investment team on founding-team diligence. Different briefs, same throughline: identifying the people who could reshape a category, understanding what motivates them, and matching them to founders at the moments that matter most.
Outside work, I'm usually by the beach, trying a new cuisine, or attempting (with mixed success) to learn something outside my comfort zone, currently Russian.
